What is the Madhyadeshiya Vaishya Seva Trust?
The Madhyadeshiya Vaishya Seva Trust is an organization established on November 14, 1991. Its primary goal was to unite the unorganized Madhyadeshiya Vaishya (Kanu) community in North Bengal under a single banner. It is the main body that operates from Kanu Bhawan in Siliguri.
What is Kanu Bhawan and where is it located?
Kanu Bhawan is the central community building for the Madhyadeshiya Vaishya Seva Trust. It is located on Burdwan Road in Siliguri. The foundation stone was laid on December 3, 1998 , and the building was officially inaugurated on March 6, 2003. It hosts the community’s social, cultural, and charitable activities , including a temple for Kul Guru Baba Ganinath Ji.
What are the main activities of the Trust?
The Trust organizes a wide range of social, cultural, and charitable activities (Seva). These include:
Running a completely free Homeopathic Clinic for everyone.
Annually celebrating the Janmotsav of Kul Devta Baba Ganinath Ji.
Providing relief during natural disasters and pandemics.
Organizing food donation (“Anndaan”) drives and distributing Khichdi on Makar Sankranti.
Hosting cultural events like the Holi Milan Samaroh.
Celebrating national festivals like Independence Day and Republic Day with flag-hoisting.
Holding health awareness programs and blood test camps.
