Welcome to the Madhyadeshiya Vaishya Seva Trust, the heart of the Kanu community in Siliguri. We are the descendants of the Aryas, the first humans of this earth, and protectors of the world's most ancient culture. Our ancestors were known for their wisdom and reverence for nature. Specifically, our community specialized in researching and processing sweet fruits, plants, and roots, skillfully creating jaggery, various types of sugar, and delicious sweets, which they used to build a prosperous trade. Our society was a symbol of purity, good conduct, and truthfulness, earning us the respect and reverence of all. However, this prosperity became a concern for the British, who began to sow seeds of division, leading to a period of decline for the Kanu community. In response, a reawakening began on Vijayadashami in 1905, when the Hon'ble Vishnu Kumar Gupta founded the Akhil Bharatiya Madhyadeshiya Vaishya Mahasabha to restore our community's prominence. In Siliguri, our local samaj was first established around 1950. To formally unite the unorganized community across North Bengal, the Madhyadeshiya Vaishya Seva Samiti was established on November 14, 1991, and was renamed the Madhyadeshiya Vaishya Seva Trust one year later. The Trust's formation led to a golden historic step for our community: the purchase of land on Burdwan Road and the laying of the foundation stone for our magnificent Kanu Bhawan on December 3, 1998. Inaugurated on March 6, 2003, Kanu Bhawan is now the proud center of all our activities, housing our Trust, the Madhyadeshiya Yuva Manch (Youth Wing), and the Madhyadeshiya Mahila Manch (Women's Wing) as we work together to serve our society.
